Shin Guards - Did You Know? by ShinGuards.info
Football ( soccer ) players all know the importantance of shin guards. Did you know though that many players do not wear them during practice? Many think why do i need them during that time. Well, first off, common sense would tell you that your legs are your most important asset to playing soccer (football ... can you tell this was written by an american!). From an injury standpoint: feet, ankles, shins, knees, quads, hamstring... consume 85% of all injuries that occur to a soccer player. Pretty high number considering its all the waste down.
The only form of protections that a player uses is shinguards. Shin guards will protect your ankle from twisting and your shins from bruising. Did you know that bruising on your shins, if severe enough, would effect your feet and quads? How so? Well, as a player, your body would have to adjust to the pain and injury that occurred on your shins. Bottom Line: Wear shin guards EVERY time that you are either practicing or playing.
Think about what goes on during a game.
Midfielder decides to slide tackle you with his cleats up high on shins, right below your knee. Shin guards will take the force of the impacts. Would you want 10 screws coming at your knee with full force!
You're a forward that just beat the defender to the ball and are heading towards goal. The defender turns real quick to hack at the ball, instead, he nails you in the ankle. Now you run the risk of seriously injurying your ankle which would sideline you for weeks! Instead, the shinguard will minimize the impact, and thus shortening the recover time
